HELENE BAILLY MARCILHAC
Certified Expert by the European Chamber of Art Experts
President of the Matignon Saint-Honoré Association
Hélène Bailly Marcilhac has established herself as one of the leading figures in the modern and Impressionist art market. Heir to a family tradition deeply rooted in art, she grew up in an environment where expertise and aesthetic sensitivity were passed down as essential values. Her grandmother directed a gallery, her grandfather worked as an auctioneer, and her parents ran a gallery on the Quai Voltaire in Paris. This legacy shaped her vision and, from an early age, awakened a singular artistic intuition.
After studying law at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, she specialized in the art market in London. Her international career began in New York at Sotheby’s, in the Impressionist and Modern Art department, before continuing in Paris at Piasa, where she deepened her expertise in Contemporary Art.
In 2007, she took over the family gallery, founded in 1977 on the Left Bank, while also opening her own space on Rue de Seine. In 2015, she inaugurated the HELENE BAILLY gallery at 71 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in the heart of Paris’s Golden Triangle, affirming her independence and vision. Ten years later, in 2025, the gallery took on the name Galerie HELENE BAILLY MARCILHAC, cementing a strong and lasting identity.
Renowned for her rigor, high standards, and discerning eye, she carefully selects masterpieces from the 19th and 20th centuries, working closely with private collectors, museums, and international experts.
A member of the Professional Committee of Art Galleries and the National Syndicate of Antique Dealers, she is also a certified expert with the European Chamber of Art Experts. In 2024, she co-founded the Matignon Saint-Honoré Association (matignon-saint-honore.com) alongside Alexis Lartigue and Raphaël Durazzo. By 2025, the association brings together 37 galleries as well as the five major auction houses in the district, supported by numerous prestigious partners. Together, they work to energize and promote the artistic and cultural scene of Paris’s 8th arrondissement.
Driven by a constant passion and a deep commitment, Hélène Bailly Marcilhac embodies a new generation of art dealers. Her approach combines loyalty to a family tradition with an openness to a contemporary vision of the market, reflecting a clear ambition: to preserve, highlight, and transmit artistic heritage with modernity and conviction.
